毛阿敏以深情、婉转、大气的唱法，高贵、端庄、典雅的形象，成为中国流行音乐的代表人物、内地流行乐坛的标志、歌唱家。她开创了中国流行歌曲的大歌时代，被公认为歌坛大姐大。她是第一个在国际流行歌曲大赛中获奖的中国通俗唱法歌手；多次参加中央电视台春节联欢晚会；多次担纲各类国家级重大文艺晚会的压轴演出；为多部经典电视剧、央视品牌栏目配唱主题曲。她在部队期间和退役后，多次到边疆、高原、海岛、哨所、油田、工厂、农村等地慰问演出，荣获三等功数次；多次到澳洲、美洲、朝鲜、日本、香港等国家和地区参加大型交流演出活动。她的歌声深受中央领导、社会知名人士、广大官兵和人民群众喜爱。毛阿敏在自己的演唱历程中曾多次获奖，先后获得：1987年南斯拉夫国际音乐节表演三等奖（这是中国流行歌手第一次在国际流行歌曲大赛中获得正式比赛名次）、当代中国歌坛经典回顾十大歌手奖第一名、中国流行歌坛十年回顾歌手成就奖、改革开放三十年杰出歌手奖、内地流行音乐特殊贡献奖等；并入选 “改革开放三十年来我们最熟悉的十张面孔”。除了在歌坛取得了辉煌成就外，毛阿敏还热心公益事业，积极参加各类赈灾义演，多次为水灾、地震等灾区捐款（2008年为汶川大地震灾区捐款100万人民币）。2010年玉树7.1级地震再次捐款100万。她是中国残疾人运动会 “爱心大使”；中国妇联、中国妇女发展基金会“大地之爱.母亲水窖”爱心形象大使等；2009年9月，阿敏为“粉红丝带”公益活动代言。 　2009年9月至10月，毛阿敏参加了新中国成立以来第三部大型革命舞蹈史诗《复兴之路》的演出，独唱歌曲《呼唤》。这是继《东方红》、《中国革命之歌》之后，我国文化艺术史上又一部将被永久载入史册的史诗巨作。 　现为：中国音乐家协会会员、全国青联委员、全国文代会代表。
